The TDSB continues to be a highly sought-after research partner, having received over 40 educational research applications so far this year, spanning topics such as student well-being and mental health, STEM education, financial literacy, environmental education, multi-lingual learners, culturally relevant pedagogy, supporting newcomers, and innovative instructional practices.

Many of these applications are from staff conducting graduate research, so they are deeply embedded in the work they are doing in schools. In addition to reviewing new proposals, the Research & Development Department is currently supporting approximately 10 active research partnerships with universities, community organizations, and sector partners.

These partnerships are not only aligned with the Board’s Multi-Year Strategic Plan (MYSP) but serve as critical drivers of innovation, enabling the TDSB to test emerging practices, co-develop new tools and frameworks, and generate insights that directly inform system strategy.

Through these collaborations, the Board is able to advance evidence-informed decision-making while ensuring that research translates into meaningful impact for students, families, and educators.
