At Marc Garneau CI, teacher Athina Stojanovic introduced her students to baseball just as excitement grew around the Toronto Blue Jays’ run to the World Series. Many students in the class are newcomers to Canada, and were unfamiliar with baseball and the Blue Jays. To learn about the sport and understand the excitement surrounding this historic moment, the class watched game highlights together. Since then, the class became hooked!
Their enthusiasm led to a creative classroom project, a Blue Jays–themed door display. Every detail was handmade by students, reflecting teamwork, care and growing school spirit. Their goal was to raise school awareness and to support the Blue Jays as they face the LA Dodgers.
Now, many of these students are following the games at home, learning player stats and joining in the excitement across Toronto, a true home run for classroom community and connection!
