Etobicoke Collegiate Institute (ECI) proudly hosted its annual Grade 10 Leadership Camp, Rams Camp, from September 8 to 12 at . This five-day overnight experience brings together over 300 students for a week of team-building, skill development, and community engagement.
Rams Camp is designed to help students build confidence, resilience, and leadership skills that extend beyond the classroom. Senior students from Grades 11 and 12 lead the camp, planning and delivering activities with support from teacher advisor Claudia Todorovski, Assistant Curriculum Leader of Student Leadership. Younger students are encouraged to step into leadership roles, strengthen peer relationships, and discover the impact of collaboration in a supportive environment. Those unable to attend the overnight trip engage in leadership activities at school, ensuring every student benefits from opportunities to develop teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

"Rams Camp is a longstanding tradition at ECI and a true celebration of student leadership,” shared Principal Jennifer Kurtz. “Each year, we see students step up, build trust with one another, and grow in confidence. It’s a program that continues to evolve and speaks to the pride we take in fostering leadership at our school.”

This year, ECI welcomed Superintendent of Education Harpreet Ghuman and TDSB Director of Education Clayton La Touche to experience Rams Camp firsthand. They joined students and staff on the high ropes course, exploring themes of courage, teamwork, and shared experiences. Their visit concluded with Gym Riot, a dynamic evening of friendly competition between student teams, followed by a camp-wide Rams Camp Dance led by guest artist, and ECI alumni, Troy Sexton from .
Rams Camp is one part of ECI’s broader leadership program for students in Grades 9 to 12. Throughout the school year, this program offers mentorship, skill-building opportunities, and avenues for community engagement. The lessons learned at Rams Camp inspire students to embrace leadership, inclusion, and school spirit in their daily lives. ECI looks forward to seeing the positive impact of this experience ripple throughout the school community in the months ahead.
